Day 2 - Maasai Mara Game Reserve
This morning, you will board your scheduled flight from Nairobi to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Upon landing, you will be met by a camp representative and transferred to the exclusive Mara Plains Camp. Set within one of the most iconic wildlife destinations on earth, Mara Plains Camp offers an extraordinary immersion into the raw rhythms of the wild, where daily life unfolds through dramatic encounters and timeless survival stories.
On arrival, your journey into the camp begins with a walk across a river bridge, passing through a dense riverine forest and ascending a gentle slope that leads to a set of grand steps. At the summit, the landscape opens dramatically to reveal an endless horizon, crowned by a single flat-topped tree standing proudly against the sky. This timeless silhouette captures the very essence of East Africa and offers a breathtaking first impression of the Mara.
In the evening, return to the Mara Plains Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 & 4 - Explore the Mara Eco System
Over the next two days, you will traverse the boundless plains by safari vehicle, immersing yourself in the extraordinary wilderness of the Masai Mara. An integral part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara is world renowned for hosting the annual wildebeest migration. This iconic landscape of rolling grasslands and acacia savannas is never short on excitement and supports one of Africa’s largest lion populations, alongside zebras, spotted hyenas, black backed jackals, hippos, giraffes, elands, and vast herds of wildebeest. You may also choose to visit a Maasai village for a private cultural experience, offering insight into local traditions, customs, and daily life.
Over centuries, this remarkable land has witnessed countless stories, from the triumphs of Maasai warriors to the hardships faced by Africa’s great explorers, and later serving as a source of inspiration for Ernest Hemingway. For many, the essence of the Mara is simply indescribable. As you follow in the footsteps of these legends, you will search the plains for elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, gazelles, and cheetahs. Home to some of the most abundant wildlife on the planet, the Masai Mara offers exceptionally close and intimate encounters, made possible by animals that are accustomed to the presence of safari vehicles.

Day 5 - Fly Out to Samburu Game Reserve
After a sumptuous breakfast, you will be transferred to the nearby Olare Motorogi Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Samburu Game Reserve, a striking semi desert landscape located in Kenya’s remote northern frontier. This rugged region is renowned for its large elephant herds and the rare and endangered Grevy’s zebra, offering a safari experience that feels both exclusive and untamed.
Over the next couple of days, you will explore Samburu’s unique wildlife through guided game drives and nature walks, discovering species specially adapted to the arid environment. You will stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp, beautifully set within Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, and enjoy warm hospitality, attentive service, and uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness.
Ashnil Samburu Camp is named after the natural springs that form an oasis of crystal clear water at the western edge of the reserve. The camp is separated from Samburu National Reserve by the Ewaso Nyiro River and lies in a landscape that is less hilly and less dense, yet equally captivating in its beauty. During your stay, you will also have the opportunity to visit a traditional Samburu homestead, where you will gain insight into the rich culture, customs, and daily life of the Samburu people.

Day 6 - Samburu National Reserve
Today, you will explore the striking plains of Samburu National Park in search of the renowned Samburu Special Five. This unique ecosystem offers the opportunity to encounter the reticulated giraffe, the long necked gerenuk, the rare Grevy’s zebra, the Somali ostrich, and the elegant beisa oryx. Samburu’s oryx gained global attention following an extraordinary event in which a lioness was observed adopting three young oryx into her pride. Defying typical lion behavior, she was fiercely protective of the calves, guarding them from humans and reportedly mourning them deeply after their deaths. Biologists and conservationists were left astonished by this behavior, which was largely attributed to an unusually strong maternal instinct.
As you traverse this captivating landscape, you may also be fortunate enough to spot the endangered African wild dog. These distinctive, spotted predators live in tightly bonded packs led by a single dominant breeding pair. Highly social by nature, wild dogs are known for caring for injured or weaker members, sharing food, and working cooperatively to hunt prey as large as wildebeest. Despite being among Africa’s most effective hunters, they require vast territories and are highly vulnerable to diseases transmitted by domestic
animals, factors that have contributed to their significant population decline. A sighting of these remarkable animals is rare and truly unforgettable.
Framed by the park’s two dramatic mountain ranges, Samburu National Park remains one of Kenya’s most under visited wilderness areas. Compared to the busy game viewing circuits of the Masai Mara, you will enjoy a sense of near exclusivity here, allowing for quiet, intimate wildlife encounters and an authentic connection to this rugged African landscape.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodation.
Day 7 & 8 - Mount Kenya National Park
Enjoy a scenic charter flight from Samburu to Solio Private Game Reserve. Upon landing at the airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the lodge, where the tranquility of this exclusive reserve immediately sets the tone for your stay.
After a refreshing lunch prepared with fresh organic ingredients sourced from the lodge’s own vegetable garden, and perhaps a leisurely siesta, you will set out on an afternoon game drive to begin exploring the reserve’s remarkable wildlife.
Over the next three full days of your luxury Kenya safari, you will have the freedom to explore the scenic central highlands at a relaxed pace. Solio offers a range of guided activities, including nature walks, mountain biking, and horse riding, providing unique perspectives on the surrounding wilderness. As a private conservancy, Solio is renowned for its exceptional rhino population, and sightings of up to forty rhinos at a time are not uncommon. You may also choose to try trout fishing in the cool, clear streams flowing from the Aberdare Ranges.
For a truly unforgettable experience, an optional helicopter excursion can take you to a secluded picnic location on the slopes of Mount Kenya. During your stay, you will also have the opportunity to join night game drives, allowing you to search for elusive nocturnal species that remain hidden during daylight hours.
Stay at Solio Lodge
Day 9 & 10 - Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
Fly to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a haven for big cats, elephants, and the endangered black rhino. Your tented camp is nestled in the Northern Frontier District within a private wildlife conservancy and rhino sanctuary. This afternoon, venture into the bush and keep a keen eye for northern species such as the beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and the extraordinary long-necked gerenuk, which stands on its hind legs to reach foliage. You may also spot Grant’s gazelles, dik-diks, elands, and impala, as well as majestic leopards and lions roaming the expansive landscape. After an unforgettable day, retreat to your elegantly appointed tent, falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the African night.
Spend the following morning and afternoon immersed in game viewing within this pristine conservancy. Whether you choose to explore by safari vehicle or on foot with a guide, watch for lions, black and white rhinos, elephants, oryx, and aquatic sitatungas, the elusive swamp-dwelling antelopes. Unwind on your private veranda, enjoy gourmet meals, and toast the day with remote sundowners, all prepared by your attentive camp staff.
