This morning, you will fly from Nairobi to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to Mara Plains Camp. Set within one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife regions, the camp offers front-row access to daily wildlife drama as predators and prey share the open plains.

On arrival, you cross a river via a small bridge and walk through riverine forest before emerging onto a vast, open landscape—an uninterrupted horizon marked by a single flat-topped acacia, the unmistakable symbol of East Africa. The setting offers an immediate sense of space, solitude, and wilderness.

Over the next two days, explore the vast plains of the Masai Mara by safari vehicle. An integral part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara is renowned for hosting the annual wildebeest migration and for its exceptional year-round wildlife density. Rolling grasslands and acacia-dotted savannahs support large populations of lions, along with zebras, hyenas, jackals, giraffes, hippos, elands, and wildebeest.

Game drives here are defined by frequent and close wildlife encounters, made possible by the animals’ familiarity with safari vehicles. You may also choose to visit a local Maasai village, offering insight into traditional customs and daily life. With its long history of human and wildlife interaction, the Masai Mara remains one of Africa’s most compelling safari destinations.

Over the next two days, enjoy game drives and guided activities exploring the reserve, as well as a cultural visit to a traditional Samburu homestead, offering insight into local customs and way of life. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Ashnil Samburu Camp, located in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, an area defined by the life-giving waters of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The reserve’s open terrain and permanent water sources attract abundant wildlife, making it an excellent complement to Samburu National Reserve.

Explore the rugged plains of Samburu National Reserve, home to the renowned “Samburu Special Five”: reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, and beisa oryx. These species are uniquely adapted to the region’s arid conditions, making Samburu one of Kenya’s most distinctive wildlife destinations.

As you traverse this dramatic landscape, there is also the possibility of encountering the endangered African wild dog, a highly social and cooperative hunter rarely seen in other reserves. Framed by Samburu’s striking mountain backdrops, the park offers a quieter, more exclusive safari experience compared to the Masai Mara, allowing for unhurried game viewing and a deeper sense of wilderness.

Over the next three days, explore Kenya’s central highlands at an unhurried pace. Solio is renowned for its exceptional rhinoceros conservation, with sightings of multiple rhinos on a single drive being common. A range of activities is available, including guided walks, mountain biking, horse riding, trout fishing in the Aberdare streams, and night game drives in search of nocturnal wildlife. For a truly exclusive experience, an optional helicopter excursion to a remote picnic site on Mount Kenya can also be arranged.

Fly to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a renowned private sanctuary celebrated for its thriving populations of big cats, elephants, and endangered black and white rhinos.
